The Carlton Bulldogs defeated the Barnum Bombers 3 games to 2 in their season opener, September 8, 2011 in Carlton. Carlton rallied from a 9-15 first game deficit to win that game 25-22, then dropped the next two games, 25-23 and 25-21. The Bulldogs won the 4th game 25-19, forcing a fifth game that they won 15-13 to take the match.
