The Lumberjacks dropped their home opener 2-1 in overtime to Buffalo, December 3, 2011. Adam Hanson (from Karson Kuhlman and Drew Dincau) scored 53 seconds into the second period, while Buffalo's Tommy Olson evened the score at 14:06 of the period. Buffalo's Sam Klein scored the overtime game winner, unassisted, getting a loose puck at the blue line and beating John Scheuer high. Scheuer stopped 21 of 23 Buffalo shots, while Buffalo goaltender Blake Schmidt stopped 28 of 29 'Jacks shots.
