The Lumberjacks lost a heartbreaker 4-3 to the Virginia Blue Devils at the CARC January 4, 2011. After taking a 2-0 lead to the second period, the 'Jacks found themselves down 3-2 late in the third period when Karson Kuhlman scored his second goal of the game, with goaltender Boyd Smith pulled, to tie the game at 3. Virginia spoiled the 'Jacks chance to take the game to overtime, by scoring with 3-tenths of a second as the clock ticked to 0, when Tom Norlander one-timed a pass from Wes Judnick past Smith, shocking the CARC crowd.
