The Cloquet Lumberjacks boys hockey team fell to the Eden Prairie Eagles, 3-2 at Northwood Credit Union Arena, January 28, 2013. The Eagles' Steven Spinner gave them a 1-0 lead at 6:23 of the first period, tipping a puck in the slot up and over Cloquet goaltender Zack Strom. The only scoring of the period, with Eden Prairie out-shooting the 'Jacks 13-3 for the period. Cloquet came out hard in the second period, with Karson Kuhlman tying the score at 1, just 22 seconds in. Eden Prairie re-grabbed the lead three minutes later, with a goal by Mason Bergh. The Eagles' made the score 3-1, at 2:47 of the third period, on a goal by Harry Pajor. The Lumberjacks made it a 1 goal game, with a powerplay goal by Westin Michaud, skating through the defense to beat Eden Prairie goaltender Jake Gerdes. Cloquet couldn't notch the tying goal, even with a late powerplay, and couldn't get Strom pulled for an extra attacker until there were 14 seconds left on the clock. The Lumberjacks spent enough time in the Eden Prairie zone the final two periods, they ended the game with a 29-28 shot advantage, holding the Eagles to just 4 shots in the final period.
