The Esko Boys Basketball team defeated Aitkin 72-48 in a 7AA playoff matchup in Esko, March 6, 2013. Casey Staniger led Esko with 27 points on 10 of 15 shooting, while Kory Deadrick scored 20 and had 9 rebounds for the Eskomos. The Junior Deadrick finished the game just 7 points short of the 1000 mark for his career. Guard Marc Peterson was credited with 9 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals, while committing 0 turnovers in the game. Aitkin was led by Nathan Ehnstrom's 16 points. Ehnstrom played all 36 minutes of the game for the Gobblers. With Esko's win, they move on in the playoffs to face Section 7AA rival Braham.
