The Thunder won a defensive battle vs Itasca Community College 16-9 at Barnum High School, September 24, 2011. Michael Davis hit Terrance Crawley fora 5 yard touchdown pass 6:12 into the first quarter to take 7-0 lead after an Anthony Wood extra point. Itasca scored a safety at 12:43 of the quarter when Wood, punting out of his own end zone, was forced to step out of bounds on the snap. The Thunder went up 13-2 when John Brown took a Davis pass 34 yards for a score. John Green attempted to score for two when the extra point snap was botched but failed. After a scoreless third quarter, Wood hit a 30 yard field goal at 9:25 of the fourth quarter to give the Thunder a 16-2 lead. Itasca scored it's lone touchdown at 11:32 of the final quarter on a 2 yard run by quarterback John Bohaty to cut the score to 16-9. The Thunder secondary held it's ground on a final Itasca drive breaking up two pass attempts in the end zone to hold the win.
