The 2011-12 Thunder Men's basketball season debuted November 15, 2011 vs Vermillion CC with a 99-69 loss to the Ironmen. 14 players saw action for the Thunder, as new head coach Damien Paulson works on building a rotation. Carlos Holcey led the Thunder wtih 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Alton Dixon had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Vermillion players scored in double figures, including Taylor Smaller's game leading 26 points (6 of 10 from 3-point range), Donte Warlick's 17, Kemp McCray's 14 and Kevin Handy's 13 points. Vermillion had 15 steals, while the Thunder turned the ball over 26 total times on the night.
