After not having a team for the 2010-11 season, the Thunder Women's Basketball team opened their 2011-12 season with a 36-25 defeat at the hands of Vermillion Community College. Eight players were in uniform for new head coach Melissa Johnson. Mandi Maruca led the team in scoring with 11 points, including 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Brittany Erhardt added 5 points, while Allison White had 3, Tara Lind, Robyn Graham and Allisa Rauch each had 2 points on one basket each. Kassie Gokee didn't score, but 6 steals and 6 rebounds, 5 on the offensive side of the floor. Sam Leuk added 4 rebounds, 3 offensive in the game.
