In a tale of two halves, the UMD Bulldogs defeated Augustana 42-34 at Malosky Stadium, September 22, 2012. UMD rolled in the first half, building a 35-6 lead, scoring in manner possible, a 2 yard rushing touchdown by Austin Sikorski, a 23 yard pick-6 interception return by Colby Ring, a 92 yard Aaron Roth kickoff return, and two passing touchdowns from Chase Vogler to Joe Reichert, first for 39 yards, then for 10 yards near the end of the first half.

Augustana's vaunted passing game woke up in the second half, as they outscored the 'Dogs 28-7 in the half. The Vikings Dajon Newell scored on a 2 yard run capping a short 5 play, 26 yard drive. The first of three second half passing touchdowns from Augustana QB Josh Hanson came with 2:20 left in the third quarter, a 24 yard pass to Darren Nikalson. UMD's Sikorski scored his second TD of the day, a 10 yard run, early in the fourth quarter, that turned out to be the only Bulldog score of the second half, but enough to hold on at the end. The Vikings' Hanson threw a 25 yard touchdown pass to Grant Gebhardt at with 10:40 to go in the game, then an 11 yard pass to Ben Parsley with 2:31 remaining.

Bulldog receiver Zach Zweifel may have made the play of the game, on the onside kick by Augustana after the Parsley touchdown, Zweifel managed to tie up the arms of the Vikings' player trying to recover a perfectly placed kick attempt.

Sikorski finished the game with 94 yards on 18 carries, and the two mentioned touchdowns. Joe Reichert scored his two touchdowns on 6 receptions, finishing with 95 yards, and Zweifel had 5 catches for 61 yards. Chase Vogler ran 9 times for 58 yards, while hitting on 17 of 29 passes for 227 yards and the two touchdowns to Reichert. Kicker Andrew Brees was perfect on the day, hitting on all 6 of his extra point attempts for the 'Dogs.
