The Bulldogs lost to the North Dakota Fighting Sioux 3-1, Friday, February 10, 2012. The Sioux scored a goal in each period, while J.T. Brown scored the lone 'Dogs goal with 1:06 remaining in the third period.

On Saturday, UMD took a 4-2 lead into the first intermission, then held on for a 5-4 win. J.T. Brown opened the UMD scoring at 6:22 of the first period. North Dakota's Brock Nelson (10:38) and Stephane Pattyn (14:29) gave the Sioux a 2-1 lead. Travis Oleksuk (16:18) and Mike Seidel (16:42) goals 24 seconds apart gave UMD a 3-2 lead, then Jack Connolly's goal at 19:38 of the first made the score 4-2. Connolly's second goal of the game gave UMD a 5-2 lead, just 1:46 into the second period, during the continuation of a Ben Blood 5-minute major penalty. The Sioux's Carter Rowney cut the 'Dogs lead to 5-3 at 14:42 of the second period, and 5-4 at 15:29 of the third period. Kenny Reiter stopped 32 of 36 Sioux shots in the win, while North Dakota's Aaron Dell stopped 12 of 17 shots in the loss, and was relieved by Brad Eidsness who stopped all 14 shots he faced.
