The 'Dogs and Gophers tied 2-2 at Amsoil Arena, February 4, 2011. Cade Fairchild got the Gophers on the board first, at 9:34 of the first period. Justin Fontaine tied the game at 5:46 when a rebound of his shot was pushed into the net by a sliding Gopher defenseman. Jay Barriball answered that just 2:56 later to retake the lead, and Mike Connolly re-tied the game just 1:30 later. UMD outshot the Gophers 42-38, and 5-1 in overtime, but had to kill a penalty the final 1:20 of the overtime. Kenny Reiter stopped 36 of 38 shots, while Kent Patterson stopped 40 of 42 shots by the 'Dogs. Reiter also picked up an assist on the Fontaine goal.
