UMD hosted new WCHA opponent Nebraska Omaha at Amsoil Arena for the first time, defeating the Maverick's 4-1. Travis Oleksuk welcomed UNO to Duluth with his first of two goals just 2:38 into the first period. UNO tied the game at 11:42, but Oleksuk's second goal, 20 seconds later put UMD ahead to stay. Justin Faulk capped the first period scoring at 17:17, giving UMD a 3-1 lead to the locker room. David Grun scored at 11:19 of the second period, then UMD, behind Kenny Reiter and a strong defensive performance kept UNO off the board. Reiter stopped 29 of 30 UNO shots in the win, while UNO's John Faulkner stopped 31 of of 35 UMD shots in the loss.
