The UMD Bulldogs volleyball team survived a tough 5 set match with MSU-Moorhead, September 15, 2012, by scores of 25-19, 16-25, 26-24, 20-25, and 15-11 in the deciding fifth game. Kate Lange led UMD with 29 kills, while Monica Turner and Kalli Lochner each had 12 kills, and Maddy Siroin was credited with 10 kills. Ashley Hinsch scored 61 set assists, and libero Julie Rainey had 19 digs to lead UMD. Turner was credited with 4 blocks and 3 block assists to lead the Bulldog defense.

Moorhead's offense was led by Annie Palmquist's 17 kills and Maggie Gruber's 10. Cassie Baer had 31 set-assists, while teammate Anna Olson had 22. Moorhead's Katy Ness recorded 22 kids, while Amber Krenske was also in double digits with 11.
