The Bulldog women started the 2011-12 Border Battle (and home opener) with a 74-54 win over UWS at Romano Gym, November 22, 2011. UMD had 4 players score in double figures, with Shelly Stemper's 16, Katrina Newman and Maria Almquist's 15 each, and Hannah Rutten's 11 points. UWS' Connie Urmanski led all scorers with 18 points. A large part of the point spread was UMD's 28 free throws made to UWS's 13, as neither team shot above 40%, UMD at 39% and UWS at 37%. UMD also had 20 offensive rebounds to UWS' 9, outrebounding them 47-29 total.
