UMD Women’s Hockey Opens Strong

The UMD Bulldog women’s hockey team debuted their 2013-14 lineup in an exhibition game vs. the Japanese National Team, September 28, 2013.

The Bulldogs will skate 9 players new to the UMD roster, including 2 transfers, Maddie Kolls from North Dakota and Meghan Huertas, a transfer from the University of Vermont.  7 Freshman are: Sydney Morin (Minnetonka) Ashleigh Brykaliuk (Brandon Manitoba, Canadian U-18) Nadine Ullrich (Austria) Katherine McGovern (Arizona) Lara Stalder (Switzerland) Demi Crossman (Michigan, USA U-18) and Bailey Wright (Anchorage, Alaska, NAHA).

Brykaliuk made an instant impact, centering the first line between Jenna McParland and senior captain Jamie Kenyon, scoring a goal and assisting on a third period Kenyon hat-trick.

Huertas scored a second period goal, and then in the exhibition shootout, roofed a wicked backhand under the crossbar for another.

McGovern scored a third period goal, between two of Kenyon’s third period goals.
