Bulldog Hockey Rallies for 4-2 Win in Exhibition Opener (Photos)

The UMD Bulldogs hockey team ran into a hot goalie in Lakehead University’s (Thunder Bay)  Jeff Bosch, who ended up stopping 57 of 61 Bulldog shots he faced in a 4-2 UMD win in the exhibition opener at Amsoil Arena, October 6, 2014.  Bosch stopped 36 of 37 shots in the first two periods, then gave up 2 goals on 20 shots in the third, plus UMD netted an empty-net goal to close out the scoring with 21 seconds remaining.

Brett Boehm (from Austin Farley, Carson Soucy) scored the first Bulldog goal, 6:03 into the second period needing a couple chances at the puck after putting off of Bosch’s pads on one swing and missing on another before burying the puck.

Austin Farley (Karson Kuhlman, Willie Raskob) tied the game for UMD at 13:19 of the third period, putting a rebound into the open net after Bosch deflected the puck to the other side of his net.  Justin Crandall ( Dan Molenaar, Alex Iafallo) scored the game winner, shorthanded at 18:25 of the third period with Dom Toninato getting a 5-minute major penalty.  Iafallo scored the empty net goal from his own blue line, while the team remained shorthanded on the previous major penalty.

Matt McNeely started for UMD, stopping 8 of 10 shots he faced, and Kasimir Kaskisuo played the second half of the game, getting credit for the win with the team tying and taking the lead while he was in net.  Kaskisuo stopped all 9 shots he faced.

Would post more game details but it was an exhibition game with final stats of course, meaning nothing.
