Wilderness Division Finals vs Fairbank Ice Dogs Starts Friday!

The Wilderness and Fairbanks Ice Dogs probably don’t share the animosity of the previous playoff series with Coulee Region, the teams haven’t played since November 1st, but each team won their 2 home games during the regular season (Wilderness won 4-3 and 5-3 September 26/27 and Ice Dogs won October 31/November 1st) matchups.

Fairbanks has a strong powerplay, scoring 62 of their 238 goals during the regular season with the extra attacker.  Fairbanks is led by newly announced Midwest Division MVP and Forward of the year Chandler Madry, who scored 22 goals and assisted on 55 others, with 13 of his goals and 21 of the assists on the powerplay.

The Wilderness’ Ivan Chukarov was named Division defenseman of the year, while teammate Darian Romanko is also on the All-Midwest division team.  Alex Trapp received the Midwest Division Academic Achievement Award in the awards announced this afternoon.

After losing the first 2 games at home vs. Coulee.. the Wilderness beat the ‘Chill in 3 straight games, with games 4 AND 5 both resulting in dominating 9-1 scores.

The Wilderness and Ice Dogs face off at Northwoods Credit Union Arena Friday and Saturday night at 7:05, with games 3 through 5 (if needed,) in Fairbanks, Alaska
